The Somalis also ran a daycare scam in Minnesota that bilked the state out of as much as $100 million. Despite investigative TV reports documenting the fraud, state “investigators” couldn’t find evidence of fraud. My son-in-law worked for the TSA at Minneapolis International Airport and saw Somalis coming through security with carry on bags full of cash and tickets to Somalia. Apparently it is legal to carry large sums of cash out of the country with a proper declaration. However, if I were to show up at the airport with $100,000 in cash in my carry on bag, I would expect to be visiting with both the FBI and the IRS before I got on any plane out of the country.
You would never make it on the plane.
At least not with the cash.
