The only conflict is Biden blaming everyone but himself for his policies. The Saudis are just saying, “Don’t blame us for the idiot you elected.”
By the way, SA breaks even at an oil price of $105. Not on their drilling (that’s cheap), on paying for their welfare state. Anything below that, they have to deplete their reserves more than their preferred timetable allows in order to support the country. They want the highest price that doesn’t destroy demand, like all sellers (except Biden).
And demand hasn’t dropped yet, so the price isn’t too high. Adjusted for inflation our current price is lower than it has been for most of the last 40 years.
