The big strike against Smollett is not that he filed a false police report (people seldom go to jail for that), but that he lied under oath in court for hours. Bascially everything he said on the stand was a lie. He’s a nutcase and the jury didn’t believe anything he said. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got probation or community service, but the judge may not be pleased with him committing such ridiculous perjury.
