I was in Russia several times when I worked on a RCCL ship in 2005. The hot T-shirt the street vendors were selling had the “NO” symbol (red circle & slash) over the hammer & sickle with the caption THE PARTY’S OVER.
One thing I’ll say, when hanging out in the ship’s crew-bar, any of the ex-USSR crew did NOT appreciate calling them “comrade” even as a casual funny-thing.
True - but kind of irrelevant when planning for a whole country or talking in generalities. Someone with a paid off house in an area with caps on property tax increases who is fine eating *anything* and never drives anywhere is likely seeing almost no inflation right now. I’m sure there are folks like that out there but the important thing is overall or, if you prefer say 1 to 2 standard deviations.
All of them. If you take shadow stats #s from 1980 and grow them today, prices would have to be more than double that they are now for them to be accurate. Seriously, run them in excel. Then compare the price of say milk or a 2000 sq ft home in 1980 and do the same today - they are far, far closer to CPIs #s.
Your prerogative, but its utterly wrong.
