This is what I am trying to figure out, at present. Trump opposed Nord Stream 2 primarily, it appears to me, because it was an abuse of the US taxpayer to fund a defense of Germany against Russia, while Germany was interested in sending billions to Russia in exchange for oil.
I wonder if Trump’s hands weren’t tied by the fake Steele Dossier and “Russian Collusion” charges, if he wouldn’t have preferred a restructuring of NATO. Germany trading with Russia, in fact the whole continent entangled in peaceful commerce, seems like an alternative he might have liked.
At least it explains the creepy and baseless charges and congressional “investigations”.
