Good decision. WWWI got started by Russia coming to the aid of Serbia after Austria-Hungary invaded Serbia. NATO coming to the aid of Ukraine in the current situation would be terrifyingly similar and almost assuredly have similar results--WWW III, with a far more horrific outcome, no matter who "won."

I don’t agree but whether they do or should, they should not be announcing they will do nothing. Strategic ambiguity ties down Russian forces and forces Putin’s advisors to worry about the possibility of NATO intervention.

Don’t let your enemy attack someone, and let it be known you are so averse to actually fighting your enemy, that you rush to announce it. That will only cause Putin to believe you will allow anything to avoid a war.

Not being afraid to fight the Soviet Union was what kept them in check for 60 years. Strategically, this current posture causes wars.

Europe’s wars have been pushing borders back and forth for over a thousand years, and they never needed our help in doing it.

It was only 100 years ago that Woodrow Wilson stuck our nose in where it didn’t belong, and the American people have paid the price ever since.

While the USA was spending it’s treasure and blood protecting the Euros, the Euros were building wealth and at the same time complaining about us.

Time for them to step up and handle things themselves. America can and should sit this one out.

NATO would have to break its own rules to attack Russia.

But any individual countries that want to declare war on Russia can do so and proceed with hostilities.

Let’s go Eur-randon!

The Ukes are really regretting their decision to give up nukes, and signing away their border security to US, UK and Britain in the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances

Carrying Biden's diaper pail is not a good look.

NATO is a defensive alliance within member States. Ukraine is not a member of NATO. That is so easy a 3rd grader could get it.

I wish it was only a few suckers but there seems to be a bunch of war monger's lobbying for interventions that always back fire on the US. Well the grunts that have to fight their wars any way. And in a nuclear age??? Guess if you can't save the world by reducing the population with COVID and COVID shots a war will help out. PREP people, it's coming.

I don’t even get the whole “no fly zone” crappola. The meaning I understand from Iraq, was to keep other nations out of the air where you have air superiority. The “no fly zone” area may be the nation you are already engaged in hostilities with, who has lost the airspace, already, and now you simply blow them out of the sky, on sight.

I may be wrong in this understanding, but none of this applies to Ukraine.

If Putin had his planes in the air, I would think he could declare it a “no fly zone”, if he was worried about NATO.

WW1 was the most devastating war ever fought in the history of the world.

We suffer to this day of the effects of that war.

And France has a lot to be ashamed of by the treaties enacted as a result.

Great decision...now give them B-BAM (Atacm MLRS) and keep up the Javelin/Stinger shipments. Share intel with them with our satellites. BUT DON’T get in shooting war with Russians (yet).

Looks like the Western plan was to pray Putin didn’t invade and then retaliate by using sanctions that will cripple our own economies.

Very interesting strategy and something something about Freedom. The insanity of this all will come in to focus next few months. The Ukrainian people deserved better from all parties involved.

Yes. A correct and very timely announced decision. Hundreds of thousands of teenaged young men in Europe and the U.S. just heaved a great sigh of relief.

Biden can’t realistically militarily act in the Ukraine against Russia out from under the umbrella or mandate of NATO. United Nations Security Council action is a non-starter, certainly. So that’s that, right? No troops on the ground, no air involvement.

Looking back that promise should have had a twenty-year time limitation with a right if first refusal for renewal.

Nukes are worth far more than 20 years. 200, more like.

Agree with you. Announcing that you wont get involved is tantamount to a green light.
