Mark Levin: Attacked by a Birther at book signing, Declares Cruz Eligible
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8__Iwc08MQ
(Levin talks about a guy screaming at him at a book signing in NJ about Ted Cruz and birtherism. Who knows this could have been a poster on a website? I’m not saying it was, but there is one from the area and the most obsessed about this.)
‘This guy gets in my face and points to some obscure note on page whatever. And he says you were wrong about this, you were wrong. And then he goes Ted Cruz is not eligible to be President! He’s not a natural born citizen! But he’s born of a mother who’s an American citizen. Doesn’t that make an American. “No because he was in Canada when he was born.” Ok. But she wasn’t Canadian. She was an American citizen. And so the issue isn’t what the constitution says in that regard. And the way I interpret it is. His mother is an American citizen, so he is an American citizen. That is not a constitutional issue. That is an interpretative issue or a statutory issue if Congress has passed some law subsequent to that to enforce that provision of the constitution. So the face of the constitution isn’t terribly helpful. If he was born of non-citizens in a foreign country that would be easy. So the guy gets in my face and starts pointing and pointing. So I looked at him and pointed back and I cursed unfortunately because he was a nutjob. So I ask him why do you come here and do that is that how you excite yourself or something? So I just want you people to know who like Ted Cruz, I assume they are going to do this to some of these other people. Whether you like Cruz or not for President, I am just making a point that this has become an entire industry. People just get obsessed or conspiratorial. And there is no end to it. And there is nothing I can point to or say that can change their mind. But in my view there is no doubt about it that he is eligible should he choose to run.’
Wong Kim Ark is widely considered to be the most significant Supreme Court case regarding the meaning of citizenship at birth.
You won't like what Wong Kim Ark says about this.
