That's because the leftists at DU buy into the idea that Trump is Putin's lackey. For those of us who don't believe that Trump is Putin's lackey, there is absolutely no problem with us condemning Putin because it doesn't reflect on Trump in the least.
If you buy into the idea that condemning Putin is inherently trashing Trump, then you are singing the exact song the left wants you to sing.
