“Russia will put down this conflict one way or another.......He did say for years if Ukraine/Kiev didn’t stop it he would.....and here they are fighting it out ....unsurprisingly.”

Lets just hope alot of Russian soldiers die.

“Many underestimated President Zelensky, the former late night comedian. He is no Ashraf Ghani. He did not run. He delivered a dignified speech to rally his nation to fight for their freedom. Astonishing.”

Virtually irrelevant comparison. Typical of Putinistas.

Switzerland’s population was armed to the teeth, trained, and had terrain on their side that makes Afghanistan look like a cakewalk.

Ukraine OTOH, with none of those advantages, would have to balance between a West that is notoriously unreliable to countries that are not close partners (it’s just business!), and a Russia that can’t refrain from attempts at interference, domination, and control, and that would do nothing but exacerbate Ukraine’s corruption problems. Impossible. Best choice is the lesser evil.

Nope. I hope Russian soldiers die. The more, the better.

“According to multiple contacts, Russia was scheduled to invade several days ago but U.S. Intelligence disclosure caused Russia to delay in an attempt to undermine confidence in the U.S. Intelligence Community but ultimately, the disclosures won’t stop the main assault.”

Further down that thread:

Ukraine Foreign Minister Kuleba: Negotiations are underway to cover our airspace with NATO forces

If true? Son of a ... (Not the Minister, I mean, just the entire situation.)

“Biden kept ratcheting up the sanctions in recent days and weeks just like FDR did with Japan in 1941 what do we expect Putin to do and the Ukrainians are now attacking the separatist Russian regions what do we expect Putin to do?”

So you are says Ukraine will be invaded because we have put sanctions on place?
Its our fault?
Ludicrous.
What part of that Putin is a murderous thug don’t you understand?

What would have helped, would be having Trump still in office. Pooti Poot wouldn’t have committed this aggression with a stong US President in office.

There are several books of that title. The one I read was by Evgeny Sergeev, but that was several years ago.

This one was by Peter Hopkirk, published in 1992.

“Ukraine Foreign Minister Kuleba: Negotiations are underway to cover our airspace with NATO forces.”

I would be very surprised if that were so. I know there is a Turkish AF A400 at Kiev now, but that is likely there to evacuate Turkish nationals.

I always loved World War 2 history.

It was a needed war but only because of the blunder of World War 1.

It’s time to stop living in the excrement of that war and live in the reality of 2022.

War is not what the USA needs right now and this confrontation with Russia this instigation of their aggression will ultimately show how bankrupt the Western world is.

With any war blood will shed and deaths will occur. ...on both sides. That is the price of war in all conflicts. In their war not a single US soldier should fight there nor die there....not one!

And should they I will lay it at the feet of Biden and Ukraine for begging our involvement in their war.

The media is already in high gear blaming it on Trump.
