The film explores the life and music of Elvis Presley (Butler), seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Hanks).

Agreed!
Looks terrible. The guy does not look at all like him.
I AM STOKED!!!
Tom Hanks not looking too good.
The Elvis in Forest Gump was more real looking than this one.
Elvis and Tom Hanks, kinda goes together like peas and carrots.
Agree, Kurt Russell came close.
Don’t be surprised if The King has been “re-imagined” as trying to sort out his internal gender confusion while he works to bring about social justice and racial equity via rock and roll. We are talking Hollywood here, after all.
(Trailer is typical short attention inanity, by the way.)
Oh Lord.
Not Hanks again.
Does this dude have to stick his nose in everything?
Like he’s the only person who can ever be involved in any given populist film. Why does he get all these roles?
Actually Elvis and lots of white artists helped get black artists normalized in the ‘50s. Don’t think they had deliberate plans, but Elvis definitely liked their influence.

Oh, yeah, the early rockers lifted heavily from black music, esp. Elvis. It helped bring some of them into the mainstream. Elvis & co did more for black folks than BLM has ever done. (Tho that’s not the highest of bars.)
Though the music biz shafted them royalty-wise and by taking advantage in getting them to sign over rights to their own music. eg:
“White singers paid the fees, but black singers didn’t get the money “

Every time Hollywood comes up with a bio film of a beloved personality, I shudder at the thought of what they’ll do to the person.
Another shameless plug for my current ‘50s music poll here on FR! Type in keyword “50smusic” and it’ll come up!
The poll features a few of those borrowed tunes as well as multiple covers. Could not believe thatPat Boone did “Ain’t that a Shame” and it was in the top 10 of the year!
After watching “They sold their soul for rock and roll, I look at Elvis in a very different light.
“Hanks”
He just did some kind of Pro-Biden/Pro-Democrat voiceover.
I’m interested in seeing a new movie starting today called “Dog”. Tend to like cop/dog movies. Hanks did one years ago. Tend to enjoy Liam Neeson action movies. Has a new one, “Blacklight”, that started last week. Interested in upcoming movies “The Batman” and “Father Stu”.
Haven’t been to a theater in three years.
Anything recent with comrade Hanks, no thanks.
Pat Boone’s early career was making “acceptable” covers of black artists’ music.
Aware of that but as an oldies lover for 30 years, I never heard of this tune! As I stated - in the top 10 of the YEAR. Guess oldies today only play the “real” covers!
I believe that.
He sure is peddled as the model of virtue. Esp. when it shows that he is a liberal. He never does anything “wrong” - unlike Dem constituents!
