This is a tactical move by the Canadian authorities. They are "corralling" the protesters. That tells me the cops are ready to send in their riot squads, and begin rounding up, arresting protesters. There is no other explanation for this move. If you want the bridge open for cross-border traffic ASAP, then this move makes no sense, unless you are planning an assault.

It would be interesting to hear how many truckers are caught between the barriers.

Can you imagine if “tactical moves” such as this had been used by the anarchist rioters who brought city lift to a halt all over the United States in 2020.
