Disagreeing with us is one thing, but the accusation that the rest of us don't believe that we already are "put[ting] America First", is despicable, and insulting as hell. According to them, we didn't vote for Trump because we thought (even mistakenly) that he was the better alternative - we're "cultists". And unpatriotic to boot.
Noonan is too smart to think the tone she chose will convince any of those who supported Trump to change our minds. Nobody with an ounce of insight believes you can convince people by insulting them. But that's pretty clearly what she did, and it is only reasonable to assume that is deliberate.
She's clearly not really trying to change anyone's mind. She's just virtue-signaling to like-minded elites in both parties that she's "one of them" rather than a knuckle-dragging Trump voter.
