No. In my school district, the unions spend lots of money to support or oppose school related issue either at the board or on ballots.

I was a member of a teacher’s union for decades. It was mandatory at the time. Thank goodness membership is no longer mandatory (Supreme Court ruling).

No public tax money goes to any union. None. One could argue that public tax money goes towards teacher salaries, and some of that then goes to the union through dues.

But that is an empty argument. Because some of that salary money also goes towards buying, say, butter. No one would argue that tax dollars therefore subsidize butter.

Maybe not directly.

But since public school teachers are paid (maybe exclusively) from tax revenues....

And teachers pay union dues....

And school districts (which are supported only by taxpayers) might also provide some benefits for teachers’ unions (such as meeting spaces, some paid time for employees, other services)…

In Illinois the answer is yes. Often there are special school taxes that go to construction. But even those are filled with teacher perks like new parking, teacher offices, teacher daycare that allow union workers and school board members to use the daycare perks.

But the biggest issue is, more pay or more teachers or more benefits go to the unions in some manner. Often its a percentage. Sometimes its a kick back for some benefit like insurance.

But Catholic schools are proof that paying teachers more does not provide better education.

No. Teachers in Texas can join the union if they want, and have the dues taken out of their checks. My wife was never a member.
