Mohamed was just one of many. In Arabia, they called them “magicians”, which, if you’ve read any of the Arabian Nights, you’d know well, who roamed the peninsula preaching, trading, stealing, organizing followers, etc. What made Muhamad different, other than the constant re-spelling of his name in English, was that he managed to conquer the others.
What may have set aside Mahumid from the others was his claim upon the Abrahamic tradition as his own, with that little twist about Hagar, which delegitimized the Hebrew and Christian traditions while upholding his supposed own.
