No such power exists for the Vice President,

Disagree. If there were no such power, the Constitution would not have specified a particular office to oversee it. It would have said something like "The Congress".

The fact that it specifies that office means that person has discretionary authority.

Even were that not true, the Vice President could have told everyone to "go f*** themselves" before agreeing to participate in that corrupt and fraudulent transfer of power.

Pence did what a gutless coward would have done, which was to lend an air of legitimacy to a farce.

Agreed. Pence did drop the ball.
If it was a given constitutional slam dunk, do you think the fake fracas at the capital on the exact day and time of January 6, 2020 would have otherwise been CAUSED to occur. The certification was put off and done latter in the dark physically and figuratively on purpose.
So transparent it is and everyone knows. Patriots are finished and as such submitting to the brunt of ridicule if this isn’t rectified with retribution meted out to discourage infringements further
