In 1986 in Manila, there was a People’s Power Revolution that forced President Ferdinand Marcos to flee the Philippines to Hawaii. The military refused to attack the protesters and military leaders stood down.
Millions of unarmed men, women and children came out in force to protest the stolen election.
It was one of the most peaceful overthrow of a leader in modern history.
