I have a thought. In WWII they’d put up barrage balloons. These were balloons which were tethered by a steel cable. If a plane hit the cable it was curtains for the plane. The idea of the balloons was area denial. A modern equivalent might be small drones that occupy the space and fly random patterns for however long their fuel allows, then they’d return for refueling. Simply put out a warning, like is required for mines. “This area contains flight hazards that could cause loss of life.”
If there’s a legality issue, then have a bunch of recalcitrant kids do it. (Oops, sorry. We have no control over them.) China plays similar games. Pick a game they play and play it back at them with all the same excuses.

If Ukraine and Taiwan are simultaneously attacked the US will immediately declare war on Russia to be followed in a few days by a sternly worded letter addressed to Xi.

China has big economic problems, tens of millions of people are in large scale lockdowns and only Chinese will be in the stands at the Olympics. Word will get out that life sucks and Xi is trying to distract the peasants so they won’t hear the truth!
