Boris Johnson is doing this to save his job as PM. He doesn’t actually care about anyone else.
Who cares if he’s doing it to save his job? Maybe we need the same motivation here ....the point is that the UK populace aren’t pissed off that the restrictions are over they’re happy about it!
The one thing all politicians stand for is re-election.

I forget the name of the prof., and at the time I thought he was a cynical old liberal. Now that I am a cynical middle-aged conservative, I will willingly grant that cynical old liberals aren’t always wrong. He also gave me an A on an unabashedly pro 2nd amendment paper.
I heard that explanation as well. But on Friday, Ireland also announced they will be eliminating most covid restrictions.
And the more it becomes clear that Covid is over, the more some elements in the US are doubling down on restrictions and mandates.
Yes, indeed. He’s a “politician” and their only motivation is doing whatever it takes to stay in office or retain power.
The true nature and MO of a “politician” is to say and do whatever necessary to get elected and stay in office (at least long enough to make business connections, profit from graft and corruption and get a cushy lobby job).
