For the last decade or so I’ve seen the US as 50 separate “mostly” sovereign countries that are all members of the same federation - kinda like the EU. My country is Kentucky and I left the country of Washington over ten years ago.
Countries like California have little in common with my country except for the mostly common language. I’ll never go back there. If I didn’t have family in Seattle, I’d never go back to washington either. What has happened is not temporary. It is a 21st century version of the Russian Revolution - and it is international.

I fear that you’re probably right. What we are seeing here is the new normal. The genie is out of the bottle, so to speak.
