“On average, Boulder households are expected to pay $98 per month for natural gas-powered heating, a 37% jump compared to the $71 per month they paid last year, according to the city.”
Nah...I’d be spending the $98. Screw’em...
Quite the opposite. 3200sq.ft. all electric northern home with a December electric bill of $160.
We are lucky we are having a mild winter (so far). Took the dog for a 45 min walk yesterday and I was wearing shorts. Ok, a fleece over my t shirt too, but it was still comfortable. I’m less concerned about energy costs just now than I am about the grocery shelves getting steadily more barren.
What happened to America? Energy shortages and spiking costs, bare shelves in grocery markets and home stores.
Let’s Go Brandon. Do they think people aren’t noticing the collapse of our once great country.
““Turn down your thermostat and dress in layers: It’s not just up to your furnace to keep you warm,””
Jimmy Carter Redux ... i notice they’ve carefully avoided the word “sweaters”, instead using “dress in layers” instead ...
interesting choice of words too, because around here, “dressing in layers” is the usual outdoor strategy ... apparently “dressing in layers” is now for indoors too ...
“Avoid using hot water unless you need it”
what? you mean i should stop using hot water when don’t need it?
and my favorite:
“The warning posted by city officials explained that nationwide supply challenges are to blame for the higher consumer costs.”
“Boulder, meanwhile, filed a lawsuit in 2018 against major fossil fuel companies over their alleged impact on climate change. The lawsuit said climate change will lead to $100 million in added costs for local taxpayers over the next 30 years.”
So I guess it’s a good thing we gave our Boulder-resident son wool socks and a mom-knit alpaca hat for Christmas. One of his house mates will likely turn down the thermostat on behalf of the group. The house mate is totally on board with all things green. He finished his urban sustainability degree and is looking for a job telling everyone how they should live.
***Boulder households are expected to pay $98 per month for natural gas-powered heating,***
WOW! I wish my natural gas bill was that low! For Dec I paid $236.00! Highest it has ever been! (Biden: “I did that!”)
So, what is the difference between YOU burning logs in a fireplace and the fires that almost took out part of Boulder a couple of weeks ago? Smoke is smoke!
Good! Turn the heat down and wear a sweater and long john’s. Experience what you in Boulder voted for.
I live just upwind of Boulder in the next county.
I think I’ll burn tires for heat. Or for the heck of it.
Choke on it, Boulder!
Oh, and one more thing. When you have a very wet spring followed by a very dry summer and fall ... mow your weeds.
LOL!! Du schlingel.
