If the Republicans take the House or perhaps even the Senate, what new norms will they inherit from the Democratic majority of 2019-2021?
Will Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on national television ritually tear up the text of Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address and grimace while he speaks? Was that Speaker Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) intended vision of her new “narrative” for the 21st-century Congress?
Will the new majority, calling back to 2018, almost immediately begin impeaching an unpopular Biden? And will Republicans likewise dispense with a special counsel’s report, or with formal hearings with an array of witnesses with spirited cross-examinations?
Will they establish a special committee to investigate the rioting of summer 2020? Perhaps, in the new cannibalistic spirit of the age, will they dig into which national political figures—or colleagues—communicated with the Antifa or Black Lives Matter riot leaders, or offered them bail?

If we re-elect the same 145 that voted for Liz Cheney in Feb to lead them away from MAGA, then not much will change.

Here’s my modest proposal for what the next congress should have as its agenda, which hopefully will have massively ousted democrats:
Read the Declaration of Independence into the Congressional Record, hold a straw vote on who supports it. Read the Constitution into the Congressional Record. Then hold a vote on who is willing to uphold it. Make sure both are on C-SPAN and any other network willing to televise it. Make sure the public knows that you are going to follow law. Then ...
Begin impeachment proceedings against Biden. Make sure the American public knows that the object of the whole 2-years of the new congress is to burn today’s Democrat (Fascist) party to the ground, and add to the flames a goodly number of Republicans who have betrayed their oaths to uphold the Constitution. Drain the D.C. swamp, by purging the DOD, the Pentagon, the DOJ, the CIA, the FBI, and every other federal law enforcement agency, holding them to the law, and their own rules and standards of conduct. Purge the DOE with an eye to cleaning up the faculties of our universities. Follow the money on who profited from the whole COVID corruption, and confiscate all illicitly gain profits, using them simply to pay off the national debt. And the social media/high tech fat cats, break their monopolies into tiny pieces and scatter them to the winds. This would be a beginning.
Meanwhile the Supreme Court needs to find its soul and watch over the above process. We need nine justices committed to the Constitution and not any political party.
Meanwhile, the citizens of the USA should flush the Hollywood elite down the toilet they swim in. Oust the corporate bosses who sacrifice everything and everyone for the sake of their own gain. Dethrone the union thug-bosses who misuse, abuse, and mislead their members for their own power. Tear down big Pharma, big Education, big Entertainment, and several other bigs.
When that’s done, go have a cup of coffee with your neighbor and vow to treat each other civilly in future. We don’t need violence, riots, or destruction. We need a return to civility and rule of law.
