So the cops made a rational decision to harm a guy they knew was acting irrationally for not rationally respecting their authority?
The cops knew that helping this guy was costing the department money, while they could be out in their undermarked making their department money. Of course, they had only one rational decision to make, clear this irrational guy out of their way, and get back to making their department some cash.
He actually appeared to be semi ok when they took him on the stretcher. I guess

A couple of lung fulls of flame ain’t very healthy.
Grab an effing blanket and put him out! This is inexcusable cowardice.
Crispy critters make tasty varmint fritters.
If all else fails read directions
Three weeks later there are no riots, no massive destruction of buildings, no White Lives Matter posters. No politician is condemning the death. Because the guy was White.
“...had been at a nearby bar where police responded to a noise report. He reportedly walked to into the police station and confronted officers there.”
Did he appear DRUNK to you? He did to me.
“Unfortunately, Jones died after spending 47 days on a ventilator due to his lungs being burned so badly he couldn’t absorb oxygen,”
Link, read facts, don’t embarrass yourselves.
A lot of mortally wounded burn victims are lucid and mobile after the event, only to worsen later from infections.
Worst story I ever read:
Layne Chesney, teen who was badly burned in bonfire, dies at 15
Poor girl languished in the hospital burn unit for a year and a half before finally succumbing to her injuries. She was walking around and speaking when the paramedics first arrived.
And damned if the nearest blanket isn’t always inconveniently out of the frame and you have to run to get it! If only folks would burst into flames next to a blanket so idiots wouldn’t make idiotic comments about what they see om a video frame.
I’m not an expert on Police procedures but I would have thought cuffs would be in order.
You are a bad, bad man.
Funny. But, oh so bad.
One of the most horrible stories I ever read about along those lines was recounted in the book “Neptunes inferno“, where a young sailor was so badly burned over his entire body that he was conscious and able to speak and relatively free of pain but was doomed to die in a very short period of time.
The sailor comforting him was trying to keep his spirits up, but the young man knew he was doomed because he had breathed in the flames and said so.. They tried to give him some morphine, but they couldn’t get the needle into his arm because it was burned black and had the texture of wood.
Just awful
Stupid actions leads to immediate pain and death.
As it should be.
Sometimes burns don’t show how bad they are at first.
Apparently flash burns are like that.
