I quit flying years ago after airlines became tireless Greyhounds busses.

So in this case you have a pilot “against his better judgement” took an experimental drug because of a company mandate. Doesn’t sound like pilot with good judgment.

There was some point in the 1990s when it started to bother me on the number of passengers showing up either drunk or fairly doped-up. After 9-11, my concern went up a notch.

Personally, it’s reached the point where no alcohol should be served on the plane, or in the airport.
