If you are right, and the GOP has a 1-2 seat margin in the Senate, I don’t see much changing with McConnell as majority leader and several “moderate” Republicans willing to cross the aisle on votes. Even if a Republican House and Senate pass legislation, Biden will veto it unless it the conservative provisions are watered down and the bill is filled with provisions the left wants. McConnell is not committed to ideology, he is a deal maker and loves orchestrating the 10,000 page trillion dollar spending bills with something for everyone and no one reads before voting. Remember it was a McConnell controlled GOP majority Senate that failed to ratify the House passed bill repealing Obamacare with a GOP president in place ready to sign it.
At Christmas I had a conversation with my brother (a great conservative) and asked him “If the Democrats put you in charge of salvaging the 2022 election, what would you do?” Of course he would never work for them but the point was to get a perspective other than mine. He said that in March he would declare the pandemic over. No mandates, no extra testing, no quarantines. Just claim they stopped it and act as if they had.
Thoughts?
Of course they care.
Why else are they in a panic right now over their terrible poll numbers (from the same fake news media that gave them great poll numbers last year) and their massive losses in Virginia?
And how did that work out in Virginia?
And for that Dem state Senate President in NJ who got clobbered by some truck driver nobody had heard of, who spent very little money?
I’ve yet to see a poll turn the course of history.
