"The billionaire has now exercised more than 22 million options that were due to expire in August 2022

Elon Musk has exercised the final batch of a package of vested Tesla Inc. stock options that have underpinned several weeks of share dealings by the chief executive.

Mr. Musk on Tuesday converted more than 1.5 million options due to expire in August 2022 into stock and sold more than 934,000 shares to cover associated taxes, according to regulatory filings. ..."

Dude is weird af but he knows how to make money. Those options were for a price so low per share we could all afford it. In fact as he was selling stock recently (at market price) he was also exercising options to buy that INCREASED his holding to above what it was when he started selling.

I agree - he’s a weird dude, but I like him. Seems fairly conservative and he’s been right about covid from the beginning. I’d like to see him get in the political arena or fund conservative media, etc. like that demon Bezos did with his newspaper purchase. We need big money titans to counter Bezos, Cuckerberg, etc.

Why not? Musk is much smarter than Ponzi and knows when to cash out. If he were really smart he would resign as CEO and Chairman, leave the Tesla board and quietly disappear.

Elon’s core goal is, indeed, to get 100,000 people on Mars - preferably within his lifetime.
He’s not trying to get rich for the sake of getting rich, he’s trying to get rich because building a self-sustaining city on another planet takes staggering amounts of cash.

“and sold more than 934,000 shares to cover associated taxes”

He says he’ll be paying $11 billion in taxes this year - more than anyone has ever paid.

And I’m sure the politicians will squander every penny of it.

Musk is only weird if you can’t understand his Asperger brain. The way he looks at the world is different from the average Joe & Jane. He’s able to juggle multiple big picture projects, make investors money, pay back debt, keep technological progress moving forward, cultivates multiple media outlets, create a loyal well paid labor force, etc.

Musk should be making headlines for the next 2 decades in the fields of business, finance, & innovation. However, what I like about him the most, is he’s a capitalist who understands that capital and labor, need “each other” and need a proper balance. He’s also not going to wait for 3rd parties to educate his work force. He’ll spend capital and train people for his businesses, something many corporations have gotten away from.

He was a progressive darling 10 years ago, now many of them hate him.

I like him and find him an interesting character, unlike the uninteresting boring phonies that are everywhere.

One of the fraud squad already said $11 BILLION wasn’t ‘his fair share’.

I honestly wish Musk would take that money he sends to wasteful government and donate it ALL to a good cause for disabled vets!!

I’m not sure you that understand how options as part of his pay work. He had to exercise them or lose them. When he exercised his options he had to pay tax on them. Musk isn’t liquid. He has all of his wealth tied up in Tesla and SpaceX. He had to sell stock to raise the cash that he owed.

Yep. But Elon is autistic but the thing is that he is high functioning, obviously we can call see that. It used to be that Aspergers required a different diagnosis but now it’s all right there on the spectrum. But it’s great because we need his brain and obviously our brains are not hardwired like that.

I know all of that. Thanks. My point was he owns more stock now, despite the stories about his massive selloffs.

He’s our Peter Weyland or Eldon Tyrell. A revolutionary thinker backed by vast wealth. The places he’ll take us.

OT
The FAA just postponed the release of the launch environmental report by 2 months for the Starship program.

The Feds are out to stop SpaceX at all costs. Musk cannot be allowed to succeed and overshadow government efforts - bad optics.

Had this Brandon crew been in power a decade ago, had DJT never been elected, we’d still be dependent on the Russians to send people into space and on them for RD-180/181 rocket engines to launch payloads.

The Brandon crew want us to return to those glory days of US 2d rate space programs.

Not if the FAA has anything to say - they are putting up one road block after another

FAA is being a typical bureaucracy. It’s not so much as them being deliberately obstructive, as they don’t know how to function orders of magnitude faster.

There was no FAA problem until Brandon took over. Launches were granted routinely under DJT. So its not a problem with the bureaucracy per se. Its intent.
