At least the Big Dig was finally built—and did help traffic patterns in Boston.
The California “High Speed Rail”, on the other hand has done nothing but flush dollars down the toilet:

The whole article is worth reading—this is a multi decade debacle that appears to have more decades of failure ahead of it.
I know a guy who was an Civil Engineer with the firm in charge of the Big Dig. After that he spent a couple years on the Tampanzee/Mario Cuomo bridge. His wife worked for the local school administration system. Their entire careers were living off government money. Now, they are on SS, medicare and government pensions. Both loyal Dems.
