Thanks, Gen.Blather. Yes, some of this is habit. But often there is a reason why we keep a habit that goes deeper.
“...I guess if I was to sum it all up: In my opinion, the thing most Westerners need to stop indulging in is TRUST. Start looking at that gallon of milk like maybe it won’t be there tomorrow, or maybe tomorrow getting another gallon of milk will be a whole new ball game involving risk and inconvenience. Stop trusting and start appreciating.”
Thank you, Scarlett156. You said so much it’s hard to reply, but your last paragraph is something I can wrap my head around easily, and your 100% right—we lost trust in God and in our own abilities, and gave it to strangers, many of who are totally un-trust-worthy!
“Because we are like frogs in the pot.”
Yes, we certainly are!
“...Wisdom is not some magical thing handed out from up above, rather it is a set of rules for living learned through often painful experiences over the milleniums of human existence, which if followed result in an overall happier life in the long term....”
I have to disagree with this. Yes, most of us do have to get knocked upside the head to learn, but true wisdom IS some “magical thing handed out from above.” If we were to listen to our conscience, we would not need hard knocks.
Right. I felt I was approaching incoherence, but that was the gist of it.
There is all the wisdom you’ll ever need if you can remove all distractions to the point that you can hear Gd’s voice. People can give great advice, but there’s a stillness that occurs when you finally do hear Gd. Information just comes pouring out from everywhere, and it’s timely, too.
The one and the true.
“...There is all the wisdom you’ll ever need if you can remove all distractions to the point that you can hear Gd’s voice...”
And there it is!
