cuban leaf is correct. The Muslims borrowed from and expanded the theocracy of Hasmonean Judaism.
Islam took Judaism’s stictness and “chosen people” and merged it with Christianity’s proselytism and pre-Arabic paganism AND Zoroastrian’s stark dualism to create a warrior’s religion
That's an over-simplification.
Israel's land belongs to Israel. The possessor of the land owns it. Period.
One could have argued in 1890 that the land was owned by the Ottomans and that was true.
Today the land of Israel is unequivocally Israeli - and remember Israel also has a lot of Arab Christians, Arab Muslims and Arab Druze citizens and they have EQUAL rights as Jewish citizens.
Among people calling themselves "Palestinians" today, they have some Egyptian heritage, but they also share some genetics with Jews and with Arabs (even the term Jordanian is new btw)
Yes, many Jews converted - either to Christianity and then Islam or to Islam. Others intermarried and we have their descendants all over the ME
No, not at all. the Kingdom was a theocracy and an absolutist monarchy under the Davidic line of kings.
This is true also for the Hasmoneans (the Maccabees) who came to power around 200 BC and continued until Pompey the great in 60 BC.
As an aside - the Maccabee king John Hyrcanus forcibly converted the Edomites / Idumeans to Judaism - they were forcibly circumcised and made Jews. One of them had a son called Herod.....
anyway, back to the topic -- Jews and socialism -- this arose in Europe during the 1800s. Jews had been restricted to money-lending and banking professions (usury) over the preceding centuries, but were freed by Napoleon.
BUT, the 1800s also had the age of awakenings when various nations said "this land is mine". And Jews were left out unless they assimilated. So some Jews climbed on the socialist bandwagon about equality and secularism and many became leaders of this and communism.
It isn't intrinsic to their religion - as evidenced by the Indian Jews who were never persecuted and never restricted into certain professions - they didn't have this mentality.
