I know someone who had the surgery. It was life changing in the improvement it gave them.
They had suffered unexplainable fatigue for years that had gotten to the point of being debilitating. Doctors couldn’t figure it out. Then finally a new doctor noticed a high blood calcium level and checked the parathyroid hormone level. It was out of bounds which led to a preliminary diagnosis of hyperparathyroid. This was confirmed by an imaging scan performed by a specialist clinic down in Tampa/St. Petersburg FL.
Turned out one of the four parathyroid lobes was extremely enlarged, one of the worst cases they had seen. The surgery to remove the enlarged node was relatively simple and led to immediate improvement. Energy level started to noticeably rebound within days.
Definitely recommend giving the surgery serious consideration if that’s where the indicators are pointing.
If you have osteoporosis or arteriosclerosis or tooth decay despite good dental hygiene.
That is where my wife was sent for hers even though we live in the Northeast and apparently have some of the best hospitals in the world here.
Bump!
Vitamin k is good for tooth health.
Excess vitamin d damages teeth.
If you have excess vitamin d, taking vitamin k makes tooth decay worse.
I guess you meant this for Loud Mime
Practicing medicine without a license is illegal. That is all.
I don’t think courts consider that practicing medicine.
he’d probably be better off taking 3 grams of a GOOD fish oil high in EPA & DHA, Pantethine (not pantothenic acid), and above all, 360 micrograms of vitamin K2-Mk-7, which works powerfully to keep calcium in the bones and out of the tissues, such as his bypasses ...

Not aware of proton therapy, but in 2014 there was a report of a 90 plus year old male, felt too fragile to undergo surgery who was treated with stereotactic body radiation therapy with success. As of now, surgery is the treatment of choice for parathyroid hormonal excess either caused by a single adenoma (tumor of the gland) or diffuse parathyroid hyperplasia involving all glands, in which case the surgeon will excise 3 1/2 of the glands.
I don’t think those posts are illegal. 10s of thousands of similar posts are made every day.
yes, parathyroid hormone causes calcium to be taken from the bone leading to bone mass loss and osteoporosis, caused the intestine to absorb more calcium from the diet, and causes the kidneys to excrete excessive calcium leading to increased risk of kidney stones. There are also systemic symptoms such as mania, depression, fatigue. X-rays of the skull and hands may be taken to show changes associated with hyperparathyroidism, a nuclear scan using sestamibi can be done to localize the gland (there are 4) is causing the issue, or if it is general hyperplasia of all 4 of the glands. Blood tests include Calcium, Ionized Calcium, Parathyroid hormone levels, Vit D3, Phosphorous, and routine studies such as CBC and basic chemistry panels. Surgery is generally the best option if patient will allow. The sooner the better, before damage to the bones and kidney’s is well established. Endocrine surgeons should be consulted!
K-2 is not the vitamin K that is blocked by the blood thinners, Coumadin (warfarin) but I agree with your admonition not to make specific recommendations regarding medications / dosages etc without the concurrence of the treating physician.
causes the kidneys to excrete excessive calcium leading to increased risk of kidney stones
The direct effect is the opposite of that.
An increase in blood calcium can cause the kidneys to excrete more calcium.
An increase of the parathyroid hormone causes the kidneys to excrete less calcium.
I’ll ask her tomorrow.
Yes of course you are correct.... the net effect is that the kidney’s do excrete more calcium in the presence of high parathyroid hormone.
