Secession

It's time for us to jettison those who reject our national values because there's no changing them. Time to secede.

We should extend the invitation to secede on a county by county basis.

While we're at it, since we'd be forming a new country, we should extend the invitation to counties in Canada and Mexico as well.

Note that this option is becoming increasingly popular.

Why would Trump voters participate in any University of Virginia poll?

The left wants secession, no doubt, for the purpose of divide-and-conquer.

Agreed.

Deconstruction of national sovereignty and our constitutional Republic is their primary goal.

Not at the state level. Most "blue states" are red states with one or more blue big cities. And even California has its red food growing region.

Do it on the county level and let the cities die unless they are willing to deal.

Nobody has asked, “who paid for the polls?”

This would appear to be the principled, one might say “Abrahamic” stand ( as in Lincoln) ruling out the notion that the side of the political divide you do not favor will be ceded a patch of land to live on cut from out of the states or territories of the U.S. I agree, both with your overall refusal to entertain the possibility of a division of land/territory, and with the sharply negative opinion you expressed about the disfavored side. The question then seemingly becomes, whose political view are to be forever engrafted upon the national identity, like as to the northern states or the Union, and whose to be banned or banished, like as to the Southern States or the Confederacy, and how and when and by whom sha this be accomplished? Moreover, won’t this need to be done by means of the rule of law in municipalities, counties, states and FedGov, capped off with a series of Constitutional Amendments? Because is it not so, that once it becomes something to be done by force, it would quickly devolve or resolve into the question: Who controls FedGov?

It would never work.

The question is which side will have the resource to sustain itself. There is a hierarchy to economies. An economy is made up of three major sectors, primary, secondary, and tertiary.

The primary sector is agriculture; a nation has to feed itself. The agriculture sector is made up of wheats and grains, fruits and vegetables, meats, nuts, juices, etc. A nation without an agriculture sector will starve.

The secondary sector is industry; a nation has to be able to make things. This sector is made up of metals and ores, chemicals and materials, refining and manufacturing, intermediate and finished products, etc. A nation has to make things to grow.

The tertiary sector is services; a nation has to maintain itself to sustain. This sector is made up of the trade services (electrical, plumbing, A/C, automotive, etc.), professional services (advertising and marketing, sales, information, tourism, sciences, etc. A nation has to service its industry or it will collapse.

I don't think the blue states have the resources to feed, grow, and sustain itself without trade with the red states. I don't think the blue states have anything to trade that the red states would need or want.

Isn’t this no longer a significant distinction between the two sides, at least in terms of the number children expected to be born of recent traditional marriages on one side versus the other? Is it not so that so-called “conservatives” are no longer known for being reliable producers of large nuclear families? Isn’t the correlation to which you referred broken by this late date?

The other side is not merely “disfavored.” This is the latest flare-up in the eternal war of Good versus Evil. It has once again come down to the forces of evil against the rest of us.

The other side does not have “political views.” They work for Satan, and to a greater or lesser degree, they do his work.

That said, I don’t have a plan. I don’t know what our best move is at this juncture. However, I would say that pre-emptive surrender doesn’t seem to be the optimal strategy.

Plus one must consider that millions of Trump voters live in the blue areas. Over a million in LA County alone. About 700,00 in NYC.

I don’t know but had just wondered. I would think conservatives would have more kids than white liberals. The minority population I’d guess is the opposite.

But that’s just guessing

I think the concept of “conservative” has been hollowed out and the label drained of nearly all significant meaning by decades of exposure to, and unwittingly falling into a pattern of, societal and personal effeminacy. The practice of it in 2020s America is downright militant, and its scope is at the level of a highly influential industry. Masculinity, crucial to the living out of conservative ideals, has seemingly been outlawed in polite society, with the average wife of a supposedly conservative man in certain areas of the country, if not yet all, typically being the final executioner of those tendencies in his makeup.

Interesting ideas and hard to disagree with. Xi is now focusing on keeping men manly, what? ...more warlike? Of course as Americans we can’t forget Steve Martin’s skits on Girly-men, possibly America’s last meaningful contribution on the subject which today would be thought canceled

My wife and I have happened onto many discussions as of late on gender in politics and the tendencies of each to influence outcomes be it on an emotional or intellectual base.
I still believe there are more masculine tendencies on the conservative side but also agree that is being diluted.
I believe Religion had historically contributed the underpinnings of conservative thought and probably strong masculinity but religion today seems to be destroying itself with a little help from more access to sinning. Nothing like temptations and profit taking to make one shift away from things meaningful.

The conservative vs liberal mind set I look at outside of gender and more to the adherence to traditional bits of wisdom gathered throughout western civilization that is added to slowly. Where the liberal and especially progressive views seem to go yeah, yeah yeah to Western thought and then make extreme leaps towards modernizing how we are to govern ourselves. A select few who are, cough cough, really smart people have somehow outthought all previous wisdom. Those who go along are rewarded and those that don’t are punished. While progressives seem to have momentum I’m hopeful common sense will prevail.

Many years ago our dinner table was focused on urban vs rural life and the values that flow from each. Traditionally the rural man did the hard work and the woman did the hard work of caring for the manly hard worker and the children she carried while she performed her duties seemingly without much gratitude. (My wife’s version)
As we’ve grown older as a people the level of hardship has diminished. And like you point out, hallowed out, has contributed to how the result has unfolded.
In the meantime we have been ruled by one set of laws for all regardless of where or how we must live.
With the urban areas having most control of the vote we have their mindset telling us rural folk how we should do everything. Further irritates me how the same has happened to US capitalism. One set of rules for all from zoning and land use to tax structures. Groups vs individuals.
None the less, in the name of equality the loss of individual freedom is being assaulted from most directions.

The good news is in the wisdom I hope the country is accumulating on the utter failure of our leftist leaders. Could the American public actually revert to using common sense?
The leftist cheerleading for the corpse of dumb ideas is being laid open for the farce it is. Every category of leadership and process
We need more Steve Martins to poke humor holes in this ridiculous path we’ve been descending. Yeah what’s been happening isn’t funny but people do need to laugh and most often you have to think to get the joke.
