If I were them I should go Independent. They’d have WAY more clout. Especially in a divided 50-50 Senate.
But, its all about committee assignments, I will grant you that.

Yes we do have too many. For along time I thought I could talk Joe into switching (I know him) parties. A democrat in WV is a different animal from what we see in D.C. and all the liberal cities. Being a democrat is a religion and every Baptist preacher is a cheer leader. Joe’s father and grandfather all the way back to when WV was still VA (well 80 yrs anyway)were all democrats. It was expected of every son to follow in their father’s steps politically. Every time I talked to Joe about switching, he just grinned and mumbled something about preserving the Unions, etc. I finally gave up. Even though he is a a centrist I have no illusion that he will ever buck the democrates.
