Yes, but Reagan resisted at first. He cited budgetary concerns over creating yet another paid federal holiday. His opponents accused him of instead opposing King's holiday for "racist" reasons.

Reagan eventually caved and signed the bill.

Isn’t it true that Juneteenth will now be a federal holiday as well? If that’s so, then Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays were consolidated for naught (argument being that they couldn’t spare another space for a federal holiday if they were creating MLK Day).
