I know a couple people that have them. They have no complaints. But, like their 5.56 counterparts, they have their limitations. If I have one, I would put a set of honest-to-God A2 sights on it instead of those cheap wannabes.

Love my 15-22! I also have an M&P 22 Compact that’s great fun to shoot.

Bought one for each of my kids years ago.

I'd rather have a CMMG .22LR drop-in conversion bolt for my AR, so that I can train with my regular rifle's sights and accessories.

A 10/22 is half the price, and is very reliable and accurate. To me, it makes little sense to pay $550.00+ for a less accurate rifle, just because it looks like an AR. Just my $0.02...

For children and those who are extra skittish, I want to give a nod to the .22 short. It gives almost no kick, and if you are wearing good hearing protection, you still have to pay attention to *hear* it. It is a great icebreaker for those above.

It is an excellent bullet for the inexperienced to learn proper handling of a rifle.

An important twist is that it is actually a frustrating ammo, another good effect, in that even novices want to step up to a stronger round. A .22 LR is gratifying after that.

A good step up from BB and pellet shooting.

You can rig up your 10/22 with a black rifle kit and do the same thing.
