I went to Mizzou '69 to '73 and it was a perfectly normal place back then. We didn't even have Viet Nam War protests! We played KU and K State and both of them were normal as well. The whole Big 8 Conference was NORMAL midwestern values.

The University of Kansas, located in Lawrence, is known as Berkeley of the Plains. Lots of fine graduates, including my mother and nephew, but also an enclave of radicals and communists.

Certainly doesn't make the U of Kansas unique. Wisconsin / Madison is also known as the Berkely of whatever... Is every crazy university (which is most of them) east of Berkely rightly known as The Berkeley of Whatever?! Actually Im surprised at this out of KU, thought maybe conservatism was a little stronger in the heartland.
