Kabul is a city of 4 million. You can’t just drop in the 82nd airborne and “control” something like that.

If we didn’t evac, we had Bagram and the Afghani Army still intact. We could have gotten our people out, most equipment and destroyed the remaining equipment. Then we could get our troops out.
This is the greatest modern day cluster-f in American history.

This would have been like offering control of all of Houston TX (also 4 million people ) and not just the main airport at Houston.

The number of troops needed to control Kabul would have been astronomical and would never have been enough. Lots of juicy targets for the Taliban to ambush.

Those troops would have needed thousands of the armored vehicles and heavy weapons left in Afghanistan to control Kabul. Then, how would you ever get them all out?

This is a foolish argument by Biden’s Leftist enemies to further discredit Biden by trying to convince the gullible who have no idea of the ridiculous scope of the offer (if indeed such an offer was made ).
