It is a good question and this article (that others point out has been misrepresented) doesn’t address.

My personal experience is a vaccinated co-worker along with 10 other people working in his other office location were infected by an unvaccinated person. All 11 had been vaccinated and got ill with COVID symptoms. He started feeling bad while in our office with other vaccinated people. He kept getting worse through the day and finally left to get tested after several hours in what should have been an infectious state. He did get worse and like a bad flu for a couple of days. No one in our office got sick, there was no transmission from him or the other 10 vaccinated breakthrough cases. It all boiled back to one unvaccinated person who in my opinion was the selfish one, he knew he had been exposed but went to work anyway while unsymptomatic .

I know you will disparage me and call me a vaxxer at a minimum. I actually put my life on the line by participating in the Moderna study and getting the shot a year ago. So maybe I am biased a little. But I try to be objective. If someone doesn’t want the shot(s), they shouldn’t be forced. There may be valid reasons for some to avoid it. I personally think that is few. A friend who had prior very bad reactions to vaccines and no longer has them was advised it should be okay as not a traditional vaccine, but he ended up in the ICU. Ok now thankfully.

And yes, the shots aren’t 100% effective, but do increase your chances of survival. It’s pretty clear comorbidities are a huge factor. Another co-worker’s ex and his dad both died recently from breakthrough cases. Both had diabetes and other issues.

Bottom line, the rare risk of complications are far outweighed by the improved chance of survival.

One of the things that has me hostile to the vaccines is the fanatic PR campaign and demonization/censorship of folks who disagree.

In my life I have found that those who engage in such tactics are almost always liars with hidden agendas.

And how do you know this? You don't, that's how. There is nothing definitive out there - just a bunch of unsubstantiated claims.

There may be misinformation on both sides of this issue, but the level of that from the pro-vaccine would almost be laughable if so many didn’t feel justified in locking up those who are “anti-vax”, an attitude becoming very common on the pro-vaccine side.
Then the label of being anti-vax itself is a lie, having been in the military I had received a great many vaccines, but for the most part not those developed in a hurry under a great deal of false information.
A vaccine to deal with a deadly disease might be justified, but the deadliness of Covid has been vastly overstated. At age 57, by CDC’s own statistical analysis my survival rate is 99.5% and I have to be tested to know I have it? (my reaction to that is of course “Are you serious?”, and yes the pro-vax side is).
In my circle of people nobody debates this issue anymore with me, they either hang up (my father) or allow governmental agencies to do their work for them. I keep hitting them with logic and not dealing with emotion.
Then there is the whole labeling it a vaccine, which it is not, but people probably weren’t going to line up to get a “Gene Therapy” Most were not informed of just exactly what these shots were and by far the most part were convinced that it was the solution to end the “Pandemic”. Totally ignoring the fact how do you create a vaccine for something that naturally changes every year, its almost like you will need “Boosters” and guess what the shot takers will be lining up for soon.
This list of issues go on enough to write a book. The scare tactics and not telling the whole story has been the mainstay of the pro-vax side.
I don’t debate the seriousnees of a flu, one sixteen years ago almost killed me and I will be living with effects for the rest of my life, but it wasn’t a Pandemic then. If the death toll numbers of the Pandemic have to be lied about and inflated, then it isn’t a Pandemic now.
Definitely not warranting the level of scare tactics and willingness of bring about vaccine mandates. If you want to take these shots, I thank you for be willing to be the lab rat for the last part of the testing, but don’t try forcing it on those who have great number of concerns and questions about the whole thing. You may not be doing that personally, but it is becoming very common on the pro-vax side to do just that.
