Austin was ruined long ago.
Already here and have been for a while.
Have a small studio a few miles from my house.
Tyler Perry has a ginormous one on the south side, at one of the old Army bases.
They’ve been filming here for years.
As we all know the Democrats and their supporters are The Party of the People...Workers of the World Unite....Pay Folks a Wage They Deserve....isn’t that what they’re all about?
Except in the movie, tv, commercial business. They love those ‘Right to Work’ states so they don’t have to pay union wages. They love those states where they don’t have to pay all sorts of fees and permit costs.
And they especially love the $800,000,000 a year in tax incentives/breaks that they’re given by the Georgia taxpayer. Yet, not one citizen in the state has a say in that.
I’ve never read those books.
They are actually not to bad if that is a genre you enjoy. And, there are certainly lessons.
As an aside, I just really noticed your screen name. The earliest I’ve been able to trace my kin folk arriving in the new world is in the 1630ish time frame to New Amsterdam and settling eventually in the Hudson Valley NY area. Didn’t know if you are just interested in that time frame or have kin folks from then.
LOL! NM has been turned for years. Which is a shame. I graduated HS in ABQ and love NM. The politics kept me from retiring there. My 2nd choice turned out not to be the best one either. Just no state income tax. Oh well. :-}
I’ve greatly enjoyed the movies. I just never got around to the books. (I’ve enjoyed C. S. Lewis, especially the Space Trilogy; and the story of the whole ‘Inkling’ influence.)
Regarding your aside: my paternal ancestors first arrived in America at Jamestown in the early 1600s; the first one was apparently Welsh. Somewhere, I have the whole genealogy, and I am currently cleaning everything out in anticipation of a big life change - so I’ll eventually find it again.
I chose 1630 as a ball-park figure when I signed-up here, just because it was a good year for Jamestown. My people may have come a little earlier, or a little later. I’ll let you know :-)
LOL! I’m sorry about my puzzling C. S. Lewis response - I confused you with another thread about Tolkien...
Gotta pay more attention :-)
