The data from the Phase 3 clinical trials was collected and made available back in December 2020. There was no need for a control group anymore. Members of the control group were getting sick and dying from COVID-19, not even knowing they hadn’t really been vaccinated. It would be horribly unethical to not provide them with the vaccine at that point.

I actually signed up for one of the trials. You go into it knowing that you could get the placebo and you accept that.
They never did call my age group. The trial was paused before they got to me.
