Why have people been conditioned to go to the ER instead of to their primary care doctor? People go to the ER when they need immediate care - if they call their primary doctor they can make an appointment and maybe see him next week or the week after ....

Isn’t that what urgent care facilities are for....to fill the gap between primary care physicians and ERs?
Came in handy for me on several occasions.

The other issue is that urgent care sends many cases to the ER that they could treat themselves.

How about next month? Or 6-8 weeks? That's how it is for me with my HMO. Too many patients, too few doctors.
