Not best in the world — The Greatest Of All Time (a title which she embraced happily) — Talk the talk, Walk the walk.
I do feel sorry for her, because it seems that she has had abuse and other nasty issues to deal with — but I feel much sorrier for her team-mates who she left in her emotional wake and also for the girl who was next in line but didn’t get to go to the Olympics.
DANG!
*Carrie Fisher was 19 when Star Wars Episode IV was filmed.
I thought it was funny. Movie vs imaginary people on TV. All the same unless your counting on them. Then it ain’t funny.
As somebody who’s personally experienced mental illness, I can’t just blithely condemn this young woman, but given that I’ve read she was something of a prima donna, I am looking at the whole thing with a jaundiced eye.
Also, again without condemning her, there have been people who have experienced the deaths of close friends or beloved relatives, and then the next day, pulled their teams to victory.
I remember seeing a new story about a French-Canadian figure skater whose beloved mother died while she was in a major competition. She went ahead and performed her routine, in memory of her mother, IIRC, then went over to the side to cry her eyes out.
So hopefully, if I’m ever in an intense situation, and something else awful happens, like a loved one dying, I can be strong enough to complete the task at hand before dealing with the loss.
The Force is not strong with this one
The user interface could use some work too. Too much pilot overwork in that craft...
After Luke quit the rumor floating around is that Darth Vader denied Paternity.
Luke, you miserable failure, I am NOT your Father.
And another thing, Stop sending me those cheap looking holographic Father Day Cards you cheap bastard.
No Light Saber for you!
It was only her 2nd film. I believe her first speaking role was in “shampoo” with Warren Beatty .

Yes, I *like* to think I would have gone ahead; but it seems like a good deal of the criticism is from wankers who have never competed at anything approaching that level, that’s entirely different; like people who play Call Of Duty whining about someone who loses it after seeing a buddy die right next to them.
Not everybody has a right to an opinion (or at least to offering one without being ridiculed) when it comes to critiquing those who actually *DO* things at a world class level, be it sports, music, martial arts...
