I agree with being careful and I might add, of being diligent and thorough in ones research and understanding.

Let me begin by noting that the Bible does not contradict itself. Therefore, we must be able to contextually understand what the author, ultimately God, is telling us. I have a different verses, in times such as these, that I refer back to, which must have a correlation with the rest of scripture.

Romans 12:17-19 (New American Standard Bible 1995)

17 Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. 19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

Verse 18 is the key and it makes for allowances under some circumstances. Those circumstances are left for you to determine. So don't make your choices lightly.

I believe your answer is quite proper, and is based on discernment of God’s counsel in the matter.
