Not to be confused with the PCUSA which at the national level is very liberal. In my Presbytery (county level type thing) they voted a few years ago to get rid of “drawing lots” to select people for the national convention as a representative and voter.
The idea of drawing lots did seem a bit old fashioned. (In Biblical times it was used often, with the idea that God controlled it.)
As soon as the means of being chosen was changed to a popular vote, there was an amendment made that of the people to go, at least 50% of them had to be women. And that at least one homosexual or transgender needed to go too. (So not really a vote at all!)
God knew what He was doing when He called for drawing lots! (BTW - the woman head of the Presbytery just used the term “Her” when talking about the Holy Spirit!)
