Forecasts have inland areas such as Spokane, Washington and Boise, Idaho reaching triple-digit temperatures for the rest of the week. The National Weather Service’s excessive heat warning is in effect until 11 p.m. PT on Thursday

Those areas are high desert..they are used to hot summers!

Spokane is neither high nor desert. Elevation of Felts Field is 1952’ and the greater area is classified as warm-summer Mediterranean climate. Currently temp records are being broken daily.

Not very high, couple thousand feet. But very deserty in the rain shadow of the Cascades. Used to hot dry windy weather.
