I learned from watching my mother that when people have dementia, they just start making up stories they believe are true but don’t square with the actual facts. But they really believe it happened.

And they walk in a stilted manner as Joe does.
And lose their train of thought as Joe does.
And have angry outbursts as Joe does.
And have that 100 yard stare as Joe does .
And don't waste your time by instinctively trying to correct them , regardless of how polite you are.
Their slow drift into another world means delusions and hallucinations that won't make sense in our world, and you can't correct them. -Tom
