What a tragedy, RIP!

You could be right on this... underground garage... explosives...
terrorism?
Absolutely terrible.
Bless those involved in the rescue and mercy for the victims and families!
Anti racist math, affirmative action engineering or crony contract bidding would be my guess.
Florida beach condos are (were) built to withstand 160 mph winds for one hour.
I have never heard about a Florida beach condo collapsing.
Even when they get flooded by high surf, they still do not collapse.
I have a friend who had an oceanfront condo in South Palm Beach. They were having problems because the concrete was made with ocean water and was dissolving the rebar.
My first thought.
Oh lord .
Have they sold ?
“Have they sold ?”
Yes, that was in the ‘90s. I don’t know whatever became of it. But I would not be surprised if that was a common practice at some time.
Sinkhole. Betcha.
Sinkhole. Betcha.
Nope, structural failure IMHO.
Stop it.
There is absolutely nothing pointing to terrorism.
99% likely poor construction. Rebar corrosion and concrete compression collapse.
The lawyers are circling. Wrongful death lawsuits. Some company will be declaring bankruptcy. Insurance company will take a major hit. Lawyers will take a 1/3.
wow .
John MacDonald wrote Condominium based on all the shoddy
building going on in Siesta Key Fl in the 1970-1980s .
It is odd that the Condo collapsed in only one section. This looks to me like buildings destroyed in war zones. Deliberate! Explosives! Act of terror!
What did the FBI know and when did they know it?
If sea water was used, then the contractor is in trouble. The specs for concrete are always written to use potable water. Every structural engineer knows that.
A “watch the birdie over here” mid week before Round Heels Harris goes to the WRONG city on the TX Border for her “Border Visit” which will have sanitized videos of small groups of people crossing— and NOT what is going on in the Rio Grande Valley— of hundreds of thousands (being hurriedly flown/driven away from any real camera footage).
IOW— this minor event to divert attention. Entirely possible it was a known defect in condo building (happens a fair amount with subsidence in FL, due to drought conditions (collapse of limestone base “rock”). Find the weak one- exploit it, and make it the #1 news cycle story in Miami television wilderness of constant harangues and “coverage”. Quite possible, alongside a real subsidence story.
