Colorado gun rights took a leap backward over the weekend as Democrat Gov. Jared Polis signed legislation essentially gutting the Centennial State’s firearms preemption law, thus allowing local municipalities to establish their own gun control laws.
It returns Colorado to a checkerboard situation where neighboring jurisdictions might have different, perhaps conflicting gun laws that confuse, and according to some critics, possibly even ensnare gun owners into situations where they might be violating a local law by crossing an invisible jurisdictional line.
At the same time, Gov. Polis signed another measure establishing an “Office of Gun Violence Prevention,” whose job will be to coordinate and promote efforts to reduce “gun violence.” The bill provides $3 million in funding for this new office.
According to the Denver Post, Senate Bill 21-256 “reverses a ban that keeps local governments (towns, cities and counties) from creating their own gun regulations.
“But local jurisdictions can only make ordinances that are stricter, not more lenient, than state law,” the newspaper explained. “Any regulations currently in place that are less restrictive are effectively overturned. A person can only face a criminal penalty for violating local laws if they knew about them or reasonably should have known. The new law also puts concealed-carry requirements back in the hands of the state so they’re consistent, but it does allow local governments to decide where those guns can be carried.”

I’m in. I would love constitutional carry as well but doubt we would ever get that. I’m surprised we are still a shall issue state
I have family in both florida and texas. Now I just have to convince DH who likes to ride his bike up mountains, ski and snowshoe etc….
Oregon and Washington too.
Californication is a more deadly disease than any Covid strain.
Fifty years ago the most popular bumper sticker in Colorado and Northern New Mexico was...
“DON’T CALIFORNICATE COLORADO!”
Well, it has been, and they are now moving in on New Mexico.
In Northern NM, the next most popular bumper sticker at that time was..
“PRAY FOR ME! I DRIVE HWY 44!”
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
So, no.
We’re in trouble with vote fraud.
Rats!
Laws created by rats.
Yes. No wonder Mohamed Enab’s wife : Jena was caught deleting Dominion Voting Machine proposals and refuses to allow an election audit..
Add Oregon to that list.
Well that’s very likely the last straw. I have zero intention of obeying any of their unconstitutional laws for as long as I’m here. However, I am as of now in “Get me the {expletive} out of here!” mode. Wife wants one place, I want another. I’m willing to concede and go with wife’s choice so we can focus on getting the house cleaned out and on the market.
“First y’all need to stop voting these Commie Pukes into office.”
We have been overrun by illegals, Californians, New Yorkers, New Jersyites and every anti-american mutt in the universe MORON!
I have spent a great deal of time in Colorado. I travel there many times each year to climb and camp in those beautiful mountains.
Saying that. There is no way I would leave Oklahoma to be a resident of Colorado.
I thought the new law allows only MORE restrictive regulations, not LESS restrictive. What am I missing?
Opening up the can of worms for changes in legislation open up all the cans of worms. It's no different than "Sanctuary Cities".
Where is CO repub party?
My Brother and his Family moved to Colorado Springs from CA decades ago.
When the Rats took over, he told me it wasn’t a problem because Coloradan’s are Conservative and overwhelmingly support our Constitutional Right to own Firearms.
I like to remind him of his lack of vision whenever we talk.
Where in Colorado do you live? I know it’s not Boulder. /s
That scenario occurred in Denver when hunters or firearm owners were traveling through and stopped. It will be going back to that again, but this time the commies will be worse with the arrests.

I used to be someone who tried to cooperate with the police whenever I could. But not anymore. So my advice to Coloradans at a traffic stop:
Police officer: “Is there a firearm in your car?”
I’d say: “No disrespect meant officer, but I do not answer questions.”
Police officer: “Do you mind if I do a quick search of your car?”
I’d say: “No disrespect meant officer, but I do not consent to a search.”
The cop might then ask you to step out if your car, which I believe you must then do. But if he then searches you or your car you have grounds to claim it was an illegal search.
