Of course, Clint Dempsey played for top clubs in the Premier League, too. He was undoubtedly tested regularly, but still developed A-Fib or similar more serious heart arrhythmia. Received undisclosed treatments (ablation?), but was never at top form again.
(BTW, what a great career he had as an American growing up in a poor part of Nacogdoches, Texas. Love that guy.)
