Yeah, and dozens of towns in PA claim to be the inventors. In the US, at least.
Decoration Day is not purely an American thing anyway. But no one seems to have fully recorded what happened well before WWI Armistice Day was converted into a nationwide Memorial Day.
Oh crud. I conflated Memorial with Veterans. Sorry.
Poorly written. I mean, as in child-like Ebonics grammar.

So you're saying that white people should no longer say the term "black slaves" to a black audience because it is politically incorrect?
Using proper logic, no. People can say what they wish, regardless of color. However, there are a lot of folks today who don’t listen closely enough to hear certain words and phrases in their proper context. These people will jump to conclusions based on habit.
He only had a short period of time to speak. He needed what amounts to an Elevator Pitch to get his message across. Within that time, it would have been best to keep it all short, simple and very familiar.
Were he speaking to a group of graduates from a military academy, they would most likely have been able to understand his message as intended. They would (hopefully) been able to resist the Pavlovian/ lazy thinking approach of being ‘triggered’ by certain words and phrases.
