People know the rules. If they don’t want to wear a mask then don’t fly. These episodes are not about masks, they are about thugs believing they have been dissed because someone tells them they have to follow the rules. Whether drunk or just an ass these same people are problems at work and problems at home. Anti social behavior. The fines should be 10 times higher and come with jail time. To disrupt the travel of a couple hundred other people is unacceptable.
I totally and absolutely agree with what you posted. The flight attendant didn’t make the rules but you can bet if she didn’t enforce them she would lose her job. The psycho who physically assaulted her is the type of person that would assault anyone if they aren’t getting their way. I agree with jail time plus the thousands of dollars it will take to either fix her teeth or implants AND be barred from that airline for life.
If I get reminded to remask, I just say "sorry" and meekly comply.
I don't throw a hissy fit even though I am certainly big enough to beat up darn near any flight attendant.
In addition to what you said, these jag-offs also need to be put on a flight ban list ranging from a minimum of one year to lifetime for the more serious injuries.
When I was a flight attendant, one night I was working out of the back galley and a passenger approached me when everyone was deplaning. He was beyond irate that he had to check one of his bags as he was getting on our flight and took it out on me. He cornered me against the back door and punched me in the chest. He had acted in such rage that even he was surprised at what he did. I fell back and crumbled on the floor. A caterer had seen it happen when he was opening the other door and went to help me. The passenger ran off, bypassing the other flight attendants who were helping someone in a wheelchair just off the jetway. Never did find the guy- he was short, fat, balding and had wire rim glasses- just like 90% of the other flying public. Knowing nothing would be done by my company (us airways), I just sucked it up, finished my trip and called in sick for the next 2 weeks.
These people need hard core jail time and heavy fines so they have the time to contemplate the wrongness of their actions and the sacrifice of having to do without little luxury items such as food and utilities as they struggle to pay those fines when they get out.
Bingo.
That is one of the biggest problems in American society today. Everyone is above the law except the people trying to live by or enforce legal rules or or commonsense behavior standards. Over the past 20 years but especially since covid, our neighborhood and the public parks have had steadily escalating misbehavior, trespassing, vandalism and littering, and our community association dues have quadrupled, in no small part due to these damages.
All those "participation trophy" kids, all grown up now. It doesn't take long to wreck a nation.
