all one needs to do is look at the street signs to figure it out
Presumably the OP already ripped off the street signs so that would not be a problem.

On state or county roads in rural areas the state route number can change, thus 2200 state route 23, and a couple of miles down the road, the state route can be re-numbered state route 56, and the house numbers can be in the 2200’s too. One part county owned and one part state owned.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Depends. My USPS didn't know my address existed, so they wrote it in black marker inside the RFD box door. (It was already on the outside in big letters). :-/

Considering how often USPS delivers out mail to an adjacent street......
Streets have signs, houses have numbers, what is the problem?

If you have your number on your home it's hardly difficult to figure out the street name. Not sure. A lot of people have "29" as a number on their house but there are hundreds of thousands of streets in America that have a "29" as a house number.

Law went into effect about 1994 that all of Texas had to have a 911 address.
At that point of time, unnamed roads had a name and there was a house number at the most remote location.
Learned then that a house family had in Santo (Texas y'all) was on Lamar Street.
Did not know that 'till then.

THIS! I am CONSTANTLY getting mail from other TOWNS never mind my neighbor’s mail. Seems knowing the alphabet and numerical system isn’t a prerequisite for today’s usps workers.

Government employees. No merit in evaluating them. Good job if you can get it.

A few years ago, we had a postman who was always stoned or wasted somehow. Since our dozen mailboxes are lined up with street names and numbers of variants of 4 and the same name, we got to know our neighbors quite well.

If you are looking at my mailbox you already know my street name and only need the individual house number on the box.
The bell shaped curved has taken a radical shift to the “stupid” end and I’m still way over here on the right side.

I have never seen such a thing.
What I have seen is street names etched into concrete (at street corners).
To: SamAdams76
What in the world?? If your house number is on your mailbox, and your street name is on a sign on every corner, it wouldn’t take a genius to put two and two together. What in the world is the difference? Anyone walking, jogging, riding, or driving past your address KNOWS what street they’re on.
